Fashions on the Field

Fashions on the Field showcase the glamour and style that is synonymous with country racing. 

At the Burrandowan Picnic Races, you will be given the opportunity to present your finest in trackside fashion!  Fashions on the Field offer entrants the chance to flaunt their racing style and win some fantastic prizes, with over $6,000 in prizes up for grabs for the winners.  Prizes are awarded in the following categories: Best Dressed Classic Lady; Best Dressed Contemporary Lady; Best Dressed Gentleman and Best Dressed Couple, with winners selected by a panel of judges.   If you would be interested in supporting Burrandowan Fashions on the Field this year, please email  This email address is being protected from spambots.  HOW TO ENTER

A team of Fashion on the Field spotters will wander through the crowd on race day selecting suitably dressed entrants for each category.  You will be issued with a registration number and tag that must be displayed at all times until the winners of each category have been announced.  The assembly point to meet at, prior to judging of each category, is at the staging area in front of the main hall.  There is no charge for entering.

FASHION TIMES

BEST DRESSED CLASSIC LADY AND BEST DRESSED COUPLE CATEGORIES 2.00pm

All participants for this category must be at the Fashions on the Field assembly point by no later than 1.50pm. Entrants who have not presented themselves after their final call will forfeit their place in the competition.

BEST DRESSED CONTEMPORARY LADY AND BEST DRESSED GENTLEMAN CATEGORIES 2.50pm

All participants for these categories must be at the Fashions on the Field assembly point by no later than 2:40pm. Entrants, who have not presented themselves after their final call, will forfeit their place in the competition.

PHOTOS

Winners of each category will be photographed by our official photographer on the day.

Each entrant agrees that the Burrandowan Picnic Race Club may use the photographs taken in the Fashion on the Field for any promotional, marketing and publicity purposes.  The Burrandowan Picnic Race Club may also use these photographs in any media without notice and without any fee paid to the entrant.

JUDGING CRITERIA

Women Classic: 

  • Hat or headpiece is compulsory
  • Attention to detail with all aspects of accessories such as shoes, handbag and jewellery
  • Understanding and interpretation of the current fashion trends, dress with flare and originality.
  • Deportment and grooming
  • Suitability of the outfit for the climate and setting.

 Women Contemporary: 

  • Hat or headpiece is compulsory
  • Attention to detail with all aspects of accessories such as shoes, handbag and jewellery
  • Understanding and interpretation of the current fashion trends, dress with flare and originality.
  • Deportment and grooming
  • Suitability of the outfit for the climate and setting.

 Gentlemen:

  • Suit or Jacket and tie essential
  • Attention to detail with all aspects of accessories such as gentlemen’s hat and coordinating colour choices
  • Understanding and interpretation of the current fashion trends, dress with flare and originality.
  • Deportment and grooming
  • Suitability of the outfit for the climate and setting

 Couple:

  • Suit or jacket and tie and Hat or headpiece is essential
  • Attention to detail with all aspects of accessories
  • Coordination and complementary aspects of couple’s attire
  • Deportment and grooming
  • Suitability of the outfits for the climate and setting
